Family Photoshoot in Bali: Two Days of Beautiful Memories

Some families arrive as clients and leave as friends. That was exactly how I felt when I met Srini and his lovely family during their Bali vacation. When Srini first contacted me, he asked for recommendations on where we should do their family photoshoot. As always, I suggested two of my favorite locations in Bali, places that offer completely different experiences and backgrounds. We decided on Blangsinga Waterfall for the first session and Gunung Payung Beach for the second.

Day One: A Fresh Morning at Blangsinga Waterfall

For the waterfall session, I recommended visiting early in the morning. Blangsinga Waterfall is one of those locations that feels magical before the crowds arrive. The soft morning light, the cool air, and the sound of the cascading water create a peaceful atmosphere that is perfect for family photography.

One thing I often tell my clients is that they don’t always need to make a special trip solely for the waterfall. If you’re planning a day exploring Ubud, waking up a little earlier and starting your day at Blangsinga can be a wonderful addition to the itinerary.

What makes Blangsinga special is that it offers more than just beautiful photographs. For children, the experience itself becomes part of the adventure. Walking through nature, hearing the roar of the waterfall up close, and exploring a place that feels completely different from everyday life creates memories that go beyond the images. The photos become a reminder of an experience the whole family shared together.

With the dramatic waterfall as our backdrop and the lush tropical surroundings all around us, the session felt less like a photoshoot and more like a family adventure in Bali. The photographs captured the beauty of the location, but more importantly, they preserved the excitement, curiosity, and joy of discovering it together.

Day Two: Exploring Gunung Payung Beach

A few days later, we met again for our second session at Gunung Payung Beach.

Unlike the waterfall, this beach requires a bit more planning. There isn’t a fixed best time to visit because the conditions depend heavily on the tides. I always recommend checking the tide schedule beforehand, and the ideal time is when the tide is at its lowest.

The beach revealed its beautiful shoreline, textured rocks, and wide open spaces. The children had plenty of room to run around, and their energy brought so much life to the session. We captured everything from candid laughter to fun family walks along the water.

One of my favorite moments was watching the family simply enjoy being together. There was no rush, no pressure, just genuine smiles and shared experiences. Those are the memories that photographs should preserve.

As the session continued, the changing light created a beautiful atmosphere. The combination of the ocean, the cliffs, and the family’s joyful interactions gave us a wonderful variety of images that complemented the waterfall session perfectly.

Two Locations, One Beautiful Story

What I love most about this photoshoot is how the two locations told different chapters of the same family story.

Blangsinga Waterfall brought a sense of adventure and nature, while Gunung Payung Beach offered a relaxed coastal atmosphere. Together, they created a collection of photographs that truly reflected Srini’s family’s Bali experience.

Looking back at these images, I can still remember the laughter, the conversations, and the beautiful moments we shared over those two days.

Thank you, Srini, for trusting me to capture your family’s memories in Bali. It was a pleasure spending time with all of you and documenting this special chapter of your journey. I wish you and your family happiness, good health, and many more wonderful adventures together in the years ahead. May these photographs always remind you of the beautiful moments you shared in Bali.
